Single Pad Quarters

Quarter notes on the kick pad. The simplest pattern there is, and the floor every other lesson builds on.

Sixteenths and Syncopation

Sixteenth-note hi-hat over a syncopated kick figure and a backbeat snare. The first place your hands will properly disagree.

HOW LESSONS ARE STRUCTURED · THREE GRADES
GRADE 1

Find the floor.

One pad, one steady note, one number at the end. The point is to know what your floor is, and to feel what locked timing feels like before you ask your hands to do anything harder.

GRADE 2

Two hands, one pocket.

Backbeat and eighths. Hands start to disagree on purpose. Slow the speed to 50% or 75% when the bar bites; your hands learn the shape before they learn the tempo.

GRADE 3

Place every note.

Sixteenths, syncopation, ghost notes. Placement matters more than speed. The per-hit breakdown stops being a curiosity and starts being the thing you chase.
